How to Care for acrylic wall panels

Acrylic wall panelling in a bathroomDavid Clouting is the sole distributor of LG Hausy’s innovative Zenolite, a superior high gloss acrylic polymer panel in the United Kingdom.

Zenolite is a highly desirable imbue alternative material offering crystal clear colours and depths. Zenolite is simple and easy to install, highly durable to impact, abrasion and scratching and is stable to heat, humidity and low temperatures. Zenolite is superior in strength to glass offering 20 times impact durability and the flexibility to bend. Zenolite delivers additional benefits of being inert and non-porous meaning Zenolite will not harbour Bacteria, germs, viruses, moulds and soap residue.

Caring for Acrylic Wall Panels

Zenolite panels are characterised by their weight, strength, resistance, high durability and pliability.

Despite Zenolite panels having a high durability and resistance, simple steps should be followed when handling and cleaning quality acrylic panels to avoid damage.

The best way of keeping zenolite panels looking pristine is regular cleaning to remove any grim build-up and marks. If left for extended period of time, grime can be harder to remove and will require a harsher clean. Cleaning should always start with the mildest method possible and only progress to successively harsher treatments if necessary*.

Commence cleaning by gently blowing free any loose dirt or dust from the acrylic panel’s surface.

Best results are achieved using a soft micro-fibre cloth or chamois with non-abrasive detergent in warm water.

Always rinse off any detergent with clean water.

Pay attention to silicone and finishing trim areas.

Grease or oil can be removed with a paraffin wax/Kerosene and a micro-fibre cloth.

Do not rub any part of Zenolite’s surface when it is dry.

Do not use brushes, scrapers or paper towels, window cleaners, acidic solutions, acetone, thinners or alcohol at any time.

Cleaning methods

Cleaning methods in ascending order of harshness are:

  • Warm water
  • Non-abrasive detergent
  • Solvents such as paraffin wax/kerosene

After cleaning, Zenolite should be buffed thoroughly to prevent streaking in hard water areas. Always follow the manufacturer’s recommendations when using cleaning products.

Whilst Zenolite is highly durable to impact, abrasion and scratching, minor scratches and scuffing can be removed by hand from Zenolite using selected liquid polishes and a soft micro-fibre cloth.

*Abrasive cleaners can alter the appearance of acrylic panels. We suggest a patch test in a discrete area when using solvents.

Water Staining

Water staining is generally mineral deposits from hard water areas. Hard water areas have a higher calcium and magnesium mineral which result in a white powdery substance being left on surfaces where water has been in contact. Zenolite will not water stain when maintained.
